From Days to 30 Minutes: How ITRS Streamlined On-Prem Installation

Overview
ITRS provides an enterprise observability platform for performance-critical organizations, especially in financial services, helping teams monitor infrastructure, applications, and user experience in real time to ensure high availability and performance.
Because many ITRS customers operate in highly regulated environments, on-prem deployments are a core part of the business. The company needed a more scalable and standardized way to package, install, and support customer-managed deployments across diverse enterprise environments.
Replicated gives ITRS a consistent delivery foundation for regulated, customer-managed environments, allowing the team to scale deployments and releases without increasing operational complexity.

Challenge
As ITRS modernized its platform, delivering customer-managed deployments into regulated environments became increasingly difficult to scale. Supporting on-prem customers had always been part of the business, but existing delivery approaches were no longer sustainable.
“Our customers operate in highly regulated industries where security compliance drives the need for on-premise solutions,” Lapp said. “We’ve always supported on-prem deployments, but we needed it to be more scalable and standardize the way that we package and distribute our software.”
At the same time, ITRS Analytics is a microservices-based product designed to run on Kubernetes. While that architecture enables flexibility and scale, it also introduces operational complexity that not every customer is equipped, or willing, to manage. Customers were at different stages of application modernization, and many expected an observability platform that could be deployed without becoming a Kubernetes project of its own.
Solution
Standardization was a core driver behind ITRS’s decision to partner with Replicated.
“The main reason we decided to work with Replicated was the promise of standardization,” Lapp said. “Knowing that the same package we deploy in development and QA is the same package we deploy in our SaaS environment, and ultimately the same on customer sites, removes a lot of compounding complexity.”
That consistency extends beyond installation. It simplifies releases, improves troubleshooting, and allows engineering, release, and support teams to operate against the same assumptions regardless of where the software is deployed.
“It promises to make all our teams more efficient,” Lapp said.
With Replicated in place, ITRS significantly improved deployment speed, reduced support burden, and increased release velocity for customer-managed environments.
As a result, ITRS achieved:
- Faster self-hosted installs. Self-hosted customer deployments that “used to take days to get installed” can now be completed in “30 minutes or less,” assuming prerequisites are in place.
- Faster time to resolution for on-prem issues. By leveraging Replicated support bundles and visibility from the vendor portal, ITRS reduced time to resolution for on-prem customer issues by 50 percent.
- Improved release cadence for customer-managed deployments. Standardized packaging and delivery enabled ITRS to move from quarterly releases to weekly releases, while still giving customers control over when they upgrade. “Before, we released major versions every three months,” Lapp said. “Now we release weekly, and clients can choose which versions they want to upgrade to or skip.”
- Greater scalability across hybrid enterprise environments. ITRS can now “deploy consistently across different customer environments without managing a custom installer for every situation,” eliminating one-off deployment paths.
Together, these improvements allow ITRS to support highly regulated customers at scale while accelerating delivery, reducing operational friction, and maintaining a consistent experience across environments.
